Heat Exchangers

Air to air heat exchangers play a crucial role in mechanical ventilation equipment, due to achievable primary energy savings. Although the technology is widely adopted in new and existing buildings, there is still great interest in improving the technology by increasing its efficiency and reducing pressure drop. Our research deals with static (cross and counter-flow), rotative and regenerative components and, in particular, with:

– Experimental test of components.

– Development of phenomenological models, computational fluid dynamics simulations and simplified correlations to predict device performance.
